Post Show Report Russian Health Care Week 2019

Russian Health Care Week is the largest health care project in Russia, which brings together international trade shows, congresses, forums, conferences and other events. The Week is supported by Russian authorities and governments, legislative, federal and regional executive bodies in health care, manufacturing and tourism.

This year the Week’s participants are focused on implementation of the Health Care and Demography National Projects providing for better quality of life, healthy and active ageing, upgrade of primary health care, availability and quality of health care, and health care export.

The Week’s participants were delegates from Russian regions, representatives of all relevant ministries and departments, project offices for tourism and health export promotion as well as freelance professionals from the Russian Ministry of Health Care.

The exhibitors and industry experts highly appreciated Russian Health Care Week 2019 and highlighted its great practical benefits for health development. Many participants held meetings, found their partners and generated new business sales. About 26,000 visitors appreciated the products and services showcased. More than 90% of the audience are industry experts.

Exhibitions

Three exhibitions – Zdravookhraneniye, Healthy Lifestyle and MedTravelExpo – welcomed more than 1,000 exhibitors from 40 countries in the most important sectors of the health care and medical industries on the total area of 50,000 sq m. National pavilions were arranged by China, Czechia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Malaysia, South Korea and Spain.

The participants in Zdravookhraneniye and Healthy Lifestyle were such leading Russian companies as Aybolit, AIST, Concern Axion, Aktubroentgen, Almaz-Antey, Amico, Belva, Vita-Pool, Elatomsk Instrument Factory (Elamed), Kront-M, S.P. Helpic, MediKo, Nikamed, Orbita, URSC (United Rocket and Space Corporation), Polimernye Izdeliya, Trives, Physiotechnica, Shvabe, Eleps and many others. The foreign participants included Bowa, Hitachi, Medi, Mindray, Otto Bock, Sàmsung, Schiller, Sonoscape, Stormoff, etc. They demonstrated medical equipment, rehabilitation devices, wellness technologies and healthy lifestyle products.

The 3rd MedTravelExpo 2019. Medical Clinics. Health and Spa Resorts International Exhibition was held to boost development of health resort treatment and medical rehabilitation as well as increase in export of medical services. This year it is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian spa industry.

The exhibition increased its figures in 2019 welcoming 158 companies from 12 countries. Its exhibitors demonstrated the potential of the Russian export of medical services, presented medical and wellness services, and health and treatment technologies of Russia and other countries.

The Russian resort industry was represented by the National Medical Research Centre for Rehabilitation and Health Resort Therapy of the Russian Ministry of Health Care, wellness resorts of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, Belokurikha Resort, Rossiya Wellness Resort, DiLuch Wellness Resort, leading wellness and spa resorts of the Republic of Crimea, Stavropol krai and other regions of Russia.

The largest Russian corporations and leading clinics exhibiting at MedTravelExpo included RZD-Medicine, the Federal Biomedical Agency, MSU Clinic, Medincentre of GlavUpDK under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kurgan Cluster, Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea, Meditsynskiy Gorod of Tyumen and others. The Moscow City Health Care Department presented its new project – the Moscow Medical Cluster.

Foreign clinics and resorts came from Armenia, Belarus, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, South Korea, Spain and Thailand.

The PharmMedProm Forum ran within Russian Health Care Week. Its showcase and events were prepared by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Russian manufacturers showed their pharmaceuticals and medical products, assistive technologies and promoting innovative projects. 

The Mosprom centre for support of foreign trade activities in manufacturing and agricultural industries organised a joint stand of 16 Moscow enterprises including ExoAtlet, TNK Silma, Chirana+, NOBR, Trek-E Komposit, Plastmass Group, Peligrin Matin and others.

Unique solutions were demonstrated at group stands of the Roscosmos State Corporation, the Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defense Corporation, the Skolkovo Innovation Centre, the Federal Biomedical Agency, centres of cluster development and entrepreneurship support.

The traditional Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions project worked on all exhibition days. It is aimed at minimising counterfeit products showcased at exhibitions through providing consultations and clarifications regarding intellectual property, and rendering assistance in solving conflicts connected with violations of exclusive rights.

Events and activities

Russian Health Care Week 2019 included more than 100 events with participation of Russian and foreign experts.

Russian Health Care Week was opened with the 10th Anniversary Edition of the For Healthy Life International Forum on Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle. The plenary meeting was devoted to priorities of the implementation of the Health Care and Demography national projects. The covered topics were related to prevention of non-communicable diseases, promotion of healthy lifestyle and modernisation of primary health care.

The International Conference on Health for Everyone was organised by the IKEM Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (Praha, the Czech Republic), University College London (the Research Department of Epidemiology and Public Health), the National Medical Research and Development Cardiology Centre of the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Healthy Heart Charity Fund, the Business Council of Entrepreneurs of the Czech Republic on Cooperation with Russia, the Business Council on Cooperation with the Czech Republic (Russia) with support of World Trade Centre PAO and Expocentre AO. The conference was moderated by Vera Adamkova, Head of the Cardiology Centre at the IKEM Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, Chairperson of the Healthcare Committee of the Czech Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies, and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Czech state-run universal medical insurance company VZP. The conference covered the role of epidemiology in medicine, trends and research findings in cardiology and oncology, implementation of new digital technologies in health care within international cooperation in science. The conference heard presentations of more than 30 well-known physicians and experts from Czechia, the UK and Russia.

One of the most important events of the Week was the International Forum on INCLUSION-EXPO: Rehabilitation. Accessible Environment. Assistive Technologies. It was organised by the Russian Ministry of Health Care and Expocentre AO with support of the State Duma and the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Education, the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Federal Agency for Tourism, the Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation, the Ambilympics Initiative, the OPORA RUSSIA Non-Government Association, the Federal Public Medical Insurance Fund, the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, the National Medical Chamber, the Department of Labour and Social Welfare of Moscow, the Rosmedprom Association, the National Heath Resort Association, the Russian Association for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation of Patients and the Disabled (RASMIBRI), the National Council for Medical Tourism, the Voluntary Union of Physical Culture, the Russian Orthodox Church and the National Union of People with Special Needs, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The forum’s goal is to promote discussions of key problems of the Russian state policy and social and medical support to people with disabilities. It was the first discussion of pressing problems of children with disabilities at a professional level. The forum became a unique platform for inter-agency communication and open dialogue between representatives of the medical community, social protection, manufacturers of rehabilitation equipment and individual rehabilitation means, charity funds, communities of people with disabilities, psychologists, and educators.

The Forum of the Health Care Leadership of Moscow was organised by the Research Institute of Health Care and Medical Management of the Moscow City Health Care Department. Its closing event was the Singing Doctors! Gala Show which was a show of finalists of the competition of the Moscow City Department of Health Care.

The issues of food quality and safety were discussed at the panel on Changing the Quality of Life organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The 25th edition of the Russian Forum on Circulation of Medical Products in Russia and the EEU was organised by Imperia KVK and Expocentre AO. Manufacturers of five countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan and Russia) will work according to the unified regulations of the Union starting from 2022. This is an important and long awaited change for the Russian and EEU markets which will help to facilitate the process of medical products registration.

Winter Session with the Centre for Purchasing Medical Products™ featured direct talks between suppliers of medical products and buyers, i.e., public health authorities, private clinics, and pharmacy chains.

Imperia KVK held a workshop on Winning Formula for a Private Clinic and the 5th Russian Conference on Relevant Issues Facing Modern Health Care Institutions.

MedTravelExpo 2019. Medical Clinics. Health and Spa Resorts

The central event of MedTravelExpo was the National Congress on the Export of Medical Services. It was organised by the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Coordinating Centre on Implementing the Federal Project on the Development of Export of Medical Services, Vademecum and the National Council for Medical Tourism.

MedTravelExpo 2019 first featured the International Medical Tourism Workshop organised by Expocentre AO in cooperation with the National Healthcare Travel Tourism. Thanks to the workshop, Russian medical companies and special guests from major foreign agencies from six countries interested in referring patients for treatment, recovery and rehabilitation to Russia, were able to make direct contacts and conclude cooperation agreements. During two days of the workshop, there were arranged 700 business meetings between health tourism agencies and medical facilities of various kinds participating in the federal project of medical services export development. They have signed cooperation agreements to attract foreign patients to Russia. Besides, the workshop included a presentation of Moscow medical tourism cluster.

The interesting panel on Ensuring Availability of Health-Resort Therapy and Rehabilitation for People with Special Needs and Elderly People was organised by the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Federal Agency for Tourism, the National Medical Research Centre for Rehabilitation and Health Resort Therapy of the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the National Health Resort Association, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia and Expocentre AO.

The 2nd edition of the MedTravelFest International Festival was organised by the National Medical Research Centre for Cardiology of the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the National Medical Research Centre for Rehabilitation and Health Resort Therapy of the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the National Health Resort Association, the Eksmo Publishing House, the Voluntary Union for Physical Culture, the International Centre for Training and Professional Development of Massage Therapists, the Vremeni.net Programme, the National Russian Bath Union and Expocentre AO. The Festival is held for the visitors seeking to live an active, long and fulfilling life with the aim to promote health resort and healthy lifestyle. The participants in the Festival were well-known physicians and sportsmen, leading Russian and foreign specialists in massage, bathhouse, preventive medicine, famous bloggers, representatives of health resorts, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitation and wellness centres, insurance companies, specialised media. Outstanding athlete, Russian figure skater, Chairperson of the Presidium of the Voluntary Union for Physical Culture, Honoured Master of Sports of Russia Irina Slutskaya held a workshop on Promotion of Health of Employees. The National Russian Bath Union and Expocentre AO hold the BanyaWorld 2019 International Research and Training Forum.

MedTravelExpo featured Days of Italy, Greece and Spain. Greek Ambassador to Russia Katerina Nasika pointed out to good networking opportunities in health and medical tourism between the countries. The Day of Italy featured the forum on Mineral Water as a Unique Natural Resource of Wellness and Preventive Care. The forum participants – Italian and Russian industry experts – shared their best practices in thermal therapy and drinking treatment with mineral water, and discussed many issues concerning spa resorts. Italian Consul General in Moscow Francesco Forte made a speech at the opening ceremony. There were held presentations by leading clinics and wellness centres of Spain.

The supporting programme featured a one-day educational workshop on Some Features of the National System of Evaluation of Health Resorts with the Allocation of Quality Categories by the National Spa Association. Cooperation with European Companies towards the Integration of Russian and European Health Resorts organised by the National Spa Association supported by Expocentre AO. The Forum on Modern Spa Treatment was organised by the National Medical Research Centre for Rehabilitation and Health Resort Therapy of the Russian Ministry of Health Care.

The expanded session with the participation of the Croatian Chamber of Economy on mutual cooperation in the field of wellness and medical tourism was organised by the Committee on Entrepreneurship in the Health Care and Medical Industry of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
