Top-level sports to be discussed at SportMed 2025

The two-day 20th Anniversary International Scientific Conference on the Current State and Development Prospects of the Elite Sports Medicine – SportMed 2025 – opened within Russian Healthcare Week 2025.

The event was moderated by Boris Polyaev, Chief Freelance Specialist in Sports Medicine at the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and President at the Russian Association for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation of Patients and the Disabled.

There were welcome addresses at the opening ceremony from the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, the Office of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Duma, the Russian Ministry of Sports, the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, and the Russian Paralympic Committee.

The opening ceremony was attended by Alexey Drozdov, Director at the Department of High-Performance Sports of the Russian Ministry of Sports, Igor Vykhodets, Head of the Sports Medicine Department of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, Metropolitan Mitrofan of Murmansk and Monchegorsk, Chair at the Patriarchal Commission on Physical Culture and Sports, Veronika Loginova, Director General at the RUSADA Russian Anti-Doping Agency, Olga Semenova, Vice President at the Russian Paralympic Committee, and Natalia Markarian, Deputy Director at the Department of Emergency Medical Care and Health Risk Management at the Russian Ministry of Health.

The conference featured reports and lectures by leading Russian and foreign scientists on a variety of topics such as first aid in sports, innovative approaches in sports medicine, medical support for high-performance sports, periodic assessment of athlete's health, and others.
