Russian Health Care Week 2018 started at Expocentre
The opening ceremony of the Russian Health Care Week 2018, a major congress and exhibition event in health care, was held at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
The Week's high status is confirmed by continued support on the part of the country's leadership and government. Expocentre's Director General Sergey Bednov welcomed the ceremony participants and thanked the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian State Duma, the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Moscow City Government, the Federal Agency for Tourism (Russia Tourism), and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for their assistance in preparations for the Week.

President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin was also pleased to point out to the increase in the number of Russian exhibitors represented by 670 Russian companies. According to him, the investments in R&D and production aimed at health care development amount to hundreds of billions. All days of the Week are accompanied by associate events and interesting discussions that will give rise to some changes in legislation and regulatory framework in order to improve treatment facilities, quality food and medical supplies, said the head of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky, First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Igor Kagramanyan, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Health Care Committee Natalya Sanina, Deputy Minister of Health Care of the Russian Federation Evgeny Kamkin, and First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsyb wished effective cooperation to the Week participants.
Co-chairman of the Week's Organizing Committee, Member of the Russian State Duma Health Care Committee, RAS academician Nikolay Gerasimenko expressed his appreciation to Expocentre and awarded Expocentre's Director General Sergey Bednov with the Certificate of Gratitude of the Russian State Duma Health Care Committee for considerable personal contribution to organization of the Russian Health Care Week.
The Week's supporting program opened with the plenary meeting of the 9th International Forum on Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle.
Nikolay Gerasimenko was the meeting moderator and encouraged the participants, i.e. CEOs of hospitals and health care centres, lawmakers, representatives of regional authorities "to discuss the implementation of the Decree of the President of Russia issued in May, the priority challenges and plans". According to him, the aim to increase life expectancy in Russia up to 78 years old by 2024 is unprecedented and to fulfil it, we need to determine all reserves to reduce mortality.
