The Russian national Forum “Supply of medical equipment and products of medical purpose to the Prevention and Treatment Facilities. Strategy 2012” was held December, 6th and organized by the Imperia congress and exhibition company. The Forum attracted great attention of the vendor companies and ordering customers and brought together more than 200 delegates from 50 Russians cities and CIS countries. 80% of the exhibitors are owners and top-managers of the industrial manufacturers and distributors, as well as head doctors and leading experts of the purchasing departments.

The speech of Sergey Logachev, the Chief of Department of Medical Industry of the Department of the Chemical-Engineering Complex and Bioengineering Technology of Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, aroused great interest at the plenary meeting. According to him, the significant change in 2012 will be the reduction of duty rates for medical equipment, because of the accession of Russia to the WTO. It will not provoke any significant changes on the market (71% of the market are occupied by foreign companies). Guzel Ulumbekova, the chairman of Association of Medical Societies for Quality, presented a detailed review of the Russian health care system condition today and forecast up to 2020. She noted that the main problems were the lack of investment from public sources (in 1,6 times), as well as deficit and insufficient skills among  medical personnel.

Sergey Dumchenko, the leading analyst of the “neoconomica” project of the expert consulting company NEOKON, notes that the year 2012 is believed to be stable for the industry (because of the political factors as well). Nevertheless, the allocated for the next 5 years fundings of the government budget for the purchases for Prevention and Treatment Facilities will naturally decrease because of the inflation. Such forecasts are connected with the prospect of the coming crisis, which will affect the market of medical equipment and products of medical purpose and will last for 5 years. Therefore, the competent suppliers, who communicate with the market participants, monitor changes in legislative, financial and economic sphere and implement the new sales tools will be able to maintain and increase the volumes in mid-term.

During the second session the suppliers received strategic data on the industry from the leading research and consulting companies (Goltsblat BLP, Ernst & Young (CIS) B.V., VSN-TRANSIT etc.). Much attention were paid to the reports about the changes in the rules of state purchases in view of the transition to a Federal contract system and customs regulations in the common economic space of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
