On behalf of the Russian Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy I welcome the participants in the Sportmed’2008 International Conference and the Zdravookhraneniye’2008 International Exhibition.

Nowadays sports and physical culture hold an important part in the life of Russians. It is physical activity and sport that promote good health, a longer life.

Idolized by millions of people, outstanding sportsmen and champions of the modern age promote the greatness of their country by setting new records. But sports achievements depend to a large degree on timely healthcare of high quality.

Held within the Zdravookhraneniye Exhibition, an international conference on sports medicine and a certification course by the International Olympic Committee, a series of master classes for sports masseurs and therapists, and a seminar on doping control practices will undoubtedly promote the sports medicine development and help improve sports medical service.
